How to add a Pin It Button
DESIGN YOUR CUSTOM BUTTON
To start, you’ll need to get creative and design the button you’d like to use. Be sure to:
- Keep it simple
- Use your brand colors
- Have the words “Pin It” or “Pin This” on the button
We recommend using Canva if you’re not a Photoshop expert. The size and shape you make your button is up to you, but as a starting point, the one you see if you hover over our blog post image is 140 x 46 pixels.
INSTALL THE PLUGIN
Next, install and activate the jQuery Pin It Button for Images plugin by Marcin Skrzpiec.
Then, head over to Settings > jQuery Pin It Button For Images to configure your settings. You’ll see a screen like this:
SET UP YOUR CUSTOM PIN IT BUTTON
You can experiment with the settings on each tab if you’d like, but the only settings you really need are in the Visual tab. Scroll down to the Pin image section, where you will upload your custom button.
In that section, start by selecting the Custom option. From there you’ll see the option to upload your new button just like any other image on your WordPress blog. Once you upload the image, the rest of the settings will automatically fill in.
After that, you can choose to change other settings on that page or click Save Changes. Head over to one of your blog posts, hover over an image, and you’ll see your new Pin It button ready for action!
