2. Import Sample Widgets
If you’d like to keep your current widget areas or add new widgets yourself, you may skip this section.
Your current widget areas will not be overwritten by following these steps.
Go to PLUGINS > ADD NEW and search for “widget importer & exporter”. Install the Widget Importer and Exporter plugin by Steven Gliebe.
Click ACTIVATE PLUGIN.
If your theme demo contains social media icons, you will also need to install the Simple Social Icons plugin by Nathan Rice.
If your theme demo contains an Instagram Feed, you will also need to install the Instagram Feed plugin by Smash Balloon.
Go to TOOLS > WIDGET IMPORTER & EXPORTER. Choose the WIDGETS.WIE file found in your folder and click IMPORT WIDGETS.
You’ll see a screen like this when all of your widgets are imported.
If there are any failed imports, it’s likely that you’re missing a required plugin (such as Simple Social Icons). Please note that we do not include the email subscription widget in the defaults, but you can add this yourself by installing the Genesis eNews Extended plugin by Brandon Kraft.
Please note that we do not include the From Action field in the email subscription widget (to keep you from accidentally sending people to our email list), but you can add this yourself using these instructions or through a simple Google Search.
If your theme includes social media icons, be sure to navigate to APPEARANCE > WIDGETS and update the social media links in the Simple Social Icons widget.
Any widgets that were previously installed on your website will still be there. You may need to reorganize or delete them to fit your needs.
